Phoebe is a little girl who has everything in the world.  Her parents have doted on her from the moment she was born.  It’s no wonder that by the age of four she is bored with all the lavish gift-giving.  Everyone is concerned that she has become spoiled, until Phoebe decides that she has had enough.   When Phoebe glimpses a newscast about the children in Haiti she announces to her parents, Jacques and Eloise, that she will set up a yard sale to sell all her toys, except one very special stuffed animal that daddy bought her.

Phoebe notices just how happy the children living in the Haitian orphanage were to receive the smallest gift and the joy they have for the little they possess. She is determined that she would send them something special, and her sale is a huge success because it not only raises funds for a worthy cause, but it also shows that Phoebe has a heart full of compassion and humility.

This is what author of Presents for Phoebe, Paul Rodhe, had to say about his story:
"Presents for Phoebe had been on my mind for a couple of years. I pitched it to one publisher. He loved it, but his company doesn't publish children's picture books. So in my mind it stayed until I came into contact with Rochelle at Wiggles Press. She not only loved the idea, she also added a new and timely angle to my story -- tie it into the terrible disaster in Haiti. It really made sense. So that's what I did, and here it is, my brainchild, being published! I'm confident that it'll inspire all of the children who read it."

About the Author

Paul Rodhe is the author of several children’s books.  He’s been writing for over twenty-five years, although the majority of that time was spent penning advertising copy.  Paul loves to write.

When he’s not busy coming up with a catchy headline for an ad, he’s thinking of other ways to express himself.

Being a parent of two and an idea person (thanks to the advertising business), the notion for writing children’s books popped into his head.  So he set out putting pen to paper, or these days, mouse to pad, and began creating children’s books.

With four books published to date, Paul is conjuring up more ideas to turn into books.  Stay tuned.  Paul lives on Boston’s North Shore with his wife, Kathy Kiley (also a writer) and their high school-aged son, Ian.  Their daughter, Amanda, is an actress and singer residing and working in Manhattan.
